Her normal appearance had blue reptillian like skin. She had red hair and yellow eyes. She's a nudist so she tended to wear skimpy clothes usually not covering her breasts. She liked to be in her natural form and hated having to be human for too long. When she used her body to shape shift she changed her height, hair color, skin color, voice, eyes, finger prints, and more about herself to match the person. She added clothes onto herself or changed them while switching between different people. If she's in her body too long her eyes reverted back to their natural yellow for a few moments giving herself away.
While in disguise while living with Irene and Rogue she tended to wear more clothes. Although she tended to stick to shorts and tanktops during the spring and summer months. She only wore more clothes in the fall and winter when it got too cold. The weather didn't bother her as much as it would others she had to keep up appearances. Her disguised appearance she was Caucasian. She had short dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.

Mystique had a hatred for humans very early on in life. Growing up the circus being treated like she was a human in a costume and not the mutant she really was made her feel like she was leading a double life. She felt like she was hiding who she really was. She became quite skilled as an acrobat during her time in the circus. She also became skilled in her shape shifting abilities often pretending to be one of her parents if they were too sick or injured to perform. She soon grew sick of the circus life and performing for the very people who would hate her if they learned she was a mutant.
Upon leaving the circus she felt more liberated and through the years gained several skills learning how to fight, being a spy, and how to seduce people. She used it quiet often and it's how she ended up with Victor Creed and the Baron among other people she's been with. She used her seduction skills on missions knowing she's attractive whether in her original form or disguised as another woman. She adored her three children and watched over Graydon and Kurt who were unaware she's their mother. She loved her adopted daughter Rogue very much. She planned to restore their relationship to what it used to be. She was very close to the Brotherhood. She was good friends with Magneto and she believed in his cause. She hated humanity for how they hate, injure, and kill mutants. It had started with her parents hatred of her and grown from there. She joined Loki's army eager to prove herself and not wanting to remain in a cell.

Raven was raised in the circus. Her parents Sarah and James were acrobats in the circus. They were human and hated having a mutant child. She was born with blue reptillian like skin she quickly learned to use her powers to shape shift to hide her appearance. She eventually learned how to shape shift and control her powers. This was the only thing that seemed to please her parents that Mystique could hide how she was a mutant. But she couldn't do it for long. So her parents came up with the idea it was a costume. At first growing up she tried to please her parents but they just saw her as a nuisance. She chose the name Mystique and joined her parents as acrobats.
She became more popular than them at the circus which caused her parents to hate and resent her even more than before. They grew so jealous of her they tried to kill her. They stabbed her and left her for dead. But thanks to her regenetative powers she survived. She knew she couldn't return to the circus as it was no longer safe. She had grown tired of hiding who she was and performing for people anyway. So she slipped away telling her friends goodbye. They tried to tell her to turn her parents in but she felt her parents would be believed over her. She pointed out that even if she was believed that next time she might not survive if her parents attacked her again.
She knew how dangerous the world could be so she took karate classes honing her skills while in disguise to avoid suspicion.She eventually surpassed her teachers. For the first time since she'd learned to be an acrobat she found something she was good at. And she wanted to learn more. So she left exploring the world increasing her training by herself or with others honing her skills getting stronger and more skilled each day. She also loved to flirt and seduced many people into being with her.
She met Victor Creed also known as Sabertooth while traveling. He was an assassin at the time and she found herself pregnant with a son. She gave birth to a human baby and named him Graydon. She eventually gave Graydon up for adoption but kept an eye on him over the years. She and Victor didn't stay together and soon she was on her own again. Then while disguised as a German Noblewoman she fell in love with Baron Christian Wagner and eventually they got married. But he was sterile and while she loved him he couldn't satisfy all her needs. So she had affairs with people in town and eventually met Azael. A demon in disguise from La Isla des Demonas. She became pregnant with Azael's child who convinced her to raise it as the Baron's child. The Baron was skeptical not believing the child she was carrying was his and she eventually killed Christian to stop him from revealing her affair.
When she gave birth to Kurt the birth was so painful she reverted to her normal appearance and revealed who she was. Her son Kurt had blue fur. Both were considered demons and she fled with Kurt. She passed out during the chase and Kurt floated away downstream and was raised by Margali Szardos a gypsy fortune teller and sorceress. Mystique was without a child once more and knew Kurt would be safe with Margali. She left once more taking on another disguise to escape. She later met Irene who told her about Rogue and the potential she would have. She adopted her when Rogue was only five years old and they raised her together both of them being her mothers. She began an on again/off again relationship with Irene. She grew very attached to Rogue loving her very much. She went by Jessica Smith for awhile to avoid suspicion.
She met up with Magneto and the Brotherhood during this time and learned how to be a spy and helped them out on a few missions. She agreed that mutant oppression was wrong and she wanted to stop it. During this time she impersonated Henry Grinch, Senator Kelly's aid and helped capture Kelly to turn him into a mutant by Magneto's machine so they could stop the Mutant Registration Act. Senator Kelly escaped and sought help from the X-men but his body had grown too unstable and he died at the mansion. During the battle at the statue of liberty she fought Wolverine. She was too fast for him. When she pretended to be Storm he discovered she was a fake by her scent. She was unable to mimic Storm's scent so he stabbed her. She was unable to participate in the rest of the fight and escaped disguised as an injured police officer. Her injuries healed and then she impersonated Senator Robert Kelly and withdraws his support of the Mutant Registration Act. When the world was attacked and everything went crazy she went into hiding. But was eventually captured. After learning of her abilities she was offered to join and she did without hesitation.
