Name: Proinsias Cassidy but he goes just by Cassidy
Age: 119 years old
Character From: Preacher
Reason of Choice(Why did you pick this character?): Cause I love him. Lots. Plus he's immensely fun to play.
Picture:
Personality:
In his own words, Cassidy is a lazy, lying, drug-abusing, cheating fornicator with a filthy mouth and no ambition. He has a tendency to react very quickly, indicating plenty of impulsiveness which is a reason for his ways with drugs and alcoholism. Cassidy is very stuck to his ways and opinions, stubborn at worst, determined at best. He has a tendency to be very cynical, tending to doubt and has a lack of trust in people. When he is betrayed or hurt too many times, he reacts with bitterness and anger, tending to take it out on himself or others. He also has a tendency to have a lust for violence as well as sexual. He tends to enjoy making someone suffer and is sadistic in his own way. He tends to let his anger or impulsiveness get the better of him sometimes. However, with all his vices, he has plenty of virtues. Once his trust is earned by someone, it is incredibly difficult to break and very easy to regain with a simple apology or act of kindness. He is incredibly, undeniably loyal, going to great lengths and abilities to protect or assist those he cares about. From friendship or romance, he can be incredibly charming, charismatic and humorous. He tends to have a light-heartedness about him, taking his cynicism into account as humor or sarcasm when in a good mood. He has a zest for life and can be very observant of people despite his distrust in them. He enjoys every day and lives in the moment regardless of sobriety. He is also very open-minded, considering his dark side. Cassidy does not judge people on their pasts or mistakes so long as they have the best intentions and are not abusive to others. He is also laidback, going with the flow of things unless he's anxious or stressed out. He is also quite honest, tending to be sincere when giving the opportunity. He is compassionate and kind and never intends to harm anyone who is innocent even with his violent tendencies. He only harms those who deserve it. He is incredibly street-wise, using humor, charm or wit to get out of any situation.
History:
Proinsias Cassidy was born in 1900 Ireland, raised by a protestant father and catholic mother, he only had one sibling, Billy. Around his late twenties, he and his brother served a Irish Rebellion but it grew too violent for Billy's liking and the two escaped into the swamps. A female vampire, or hag, attacked Cassidy and turned him. Billy, thinking his brother dead, killed the vampire and left cassidy there. Cassidy awoke with new skills, a ability to heal from harmful wounds and a taste for blood, realizing he was no longer human. Afraid and ashamed to show his family, he left to america and stayed in New York, eventually becoming a regular at a irish bar called Ole Ale House, learning his abilities and discovering he was a vampire from the owner and friend of his, MacCann. After realizing he was immortal and a vampire, Cassidy was aware he wasn't going to get older with MacCann and left. He has traveled the country ever since, only leaving when plenty of vigilante religious vampire hunters were on his case. He took out his frustrations on alcohol, drugs and sex, only getting violent when needed. He developed fighting skills to protect himself from said vampire hunters and eventually escaped to a small town called Annville in Texas.
When he arrived there, he met a rather interesting preacher by the name of Jesse Custer. He grew to enjoy the man, seeing a lot of similarities between them, particularly in the love of drink. He became fond of the man, declaring him as his best friend to many people and protected him from others, including two rebel angels coming for a thing called Genesis. Genesis was a powerful love-child of a angel and demon, a abomination that was quite powerful, maybe more than God himself. Despite his doubts in God himself, he knew the two angels were at least being truthful about being angels, considering they kept coming back from the dead. He at first was on Jesse's side, seeing he was a man who was good-intended at heart and Cassidy believed Jesse could use it for good. So for a small while he left him be and met Jesse's lover (unknownest to him) Tulip and fell in love with her. Despite a sexual encounter with her, Tulip admitted she only was into Jesse and had sex with him to try to get over Jesse. Tulip made up with Cassidy to be friends with him but warned that Jesse was going to judge him and others. However Cassidy didn't believe her, seeing he confessed his vampirism to the preacher and being friends with him, but Tulip warned Jesse probably didn't believe him. Cassidy ignored it still, desperate to believe the preacher was good-hearted and would use Genesis for good purposes.
However, Jesse's ego and judgmental side caused him to become corrupted with Genesis and use it for the people of Annville. Cassidy, seeing this, kept trying to convince Jesse to give it back but was reputed because it was only up to God and not angels or anyone else. Cassidy then realized despite good intentions, Jesse was still human and could make a big mistake. Jesse eventually did, sending Eugene, the son of the sheriff, to Hell after a argument over the preacher's power, Cassidy saw it and realized Jesse was corrupted. Cassidy eventually confronted him head-on over Eugene and was hurt to realize the man not only wasn't apologetic but implicated Eugene deserved it because he wasn't innocent. Cassidy brought up his sins and decided to test Jesse's true nature by deliberately burning in front of him to prove he was a vampire. Jesse did save him but not quickly enough and Cassidy was taken in by Tulip to heal safely. Cassidy hid in Tulip's uncle's house, eating off pets but wasn't healing. It wasn't until a citizen, Emily, tricked the mayor into being eaten by Cassidy. Out of pain and hunger, Cassidy ate the mayor. He reunited with Jesse and at first pushed him away but after a sincere apology, forgave Jesse, justifying that the preacher put him out which proved that Jesse at least was good and accepted him. After a small encounter with a head angel, Jesse, Tulip and himself realized God was not in heaven and was missing. Jesse decided to go find God himself and confront him, Cassidy was encouraged and decided to join the search. Their search went to new orleans, where jesse, tulip and he himself struggled to find god. While that was happening he was confronted with his son dennis' asking him to turn into a vampire due to dying. Cassidy eventually agreed but dennis became too corrupt with bloodlust and so Cassidy had to ironically kill him in a different way. This event lead to his depression and it got worse as his love for tulip increased, it only got even worse when she was killed by a organization bent on killing them from finding god. They had to go to jesse's grandmother who resurrected her but at a price for jesse's servitude. When jesse's grandmother found out about his vampirism, jesse had no choice but to save him by getting the tombs, a violent wrestling area, to reopen. Tulip and jesse managed to convince him to leave but he stayed in new orleans to pass the time.
He then found and temporarily got into a romantic fling with a man named eccarius, a vampire who sired a group of humans desiring for the vampire life called Les Enfant Du Sang. He was turned off by it at first but then learned that he intended to make a positive change, make the world safer for vampires. But he learned this was all a lie. Eccarius really used the humans as guinea pigs to turn into vampires then kill them once they were, to gain powers and blood to eat. Angered, Cassidy plotted revenge and turned all the Enfants against eccarius and killed him. Only to get captured by the grail, at least he was until he was rescued by a magical transport. He was then in the palace of loki and asked for his services in exchange for a dukehood of the kingdom. Not one to pass up a good time and destruction, Cassidy agreed.
